Southampton residents make a big splash
The residents of Southampton made a Big Splash recently as over 1,600 people attended a weekend of free swimming activities!
The Big Splash event, which took place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January at The Quays Swimming & Diving Complex and Bitterne Leisure Centre, were part of a wider initiative to encourage more people to participate in Swimming.
The Big Splash event was led by Active Nation and The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) together with their partners Southampton City Council, Southern Water and Zoggs.
The weekend offered a huge range of pool-based activities for the whole family, and best of all, almost everything was completely free! Activities included swimming assessments, coached exercise sessions, Aqua Fit sessions, Sub Aqua Diving, Water Polo, masters sessions, diving tutorials, Water Walkerz and more.
The events were a big success, attracting over 800 people on Saturday 28th and 846 on Sunday 29th.
