Southampton waterfront developer named
Morgan Sindall Investments (MSI) has been named as Southampton City Council's (SCC) preferred developer for the Royal Pier Waterfront scheme.
The waterfront site was put on the market by the council last May, with three potential firms shortlisted in September. SCC has appointed MSI following discussions with its development partners, Crown Estate and Associated British Ports - the joint owners of the site.
MSI chair Ernie Battey said: "This key site provides the opportunity to position Southampton at the forefront of internationally recognised waterfront schemes." SCC leader Royston Smith added: "I am confident MSI will create a scheme that will place Southampton as one of the most dynamic waterfront cities in Europe."
Last month, it was announced that MSI had signed a regeneration deal with Bournemouth Borough Council worth £350m.
