Southport cinema to become boutique hotel
Tribecka Land, part of Tribecka Estates, has completed a deal to turn Southport's former ABC Cinema into a 'boutique' hotel.
After negotiations with Sefton Borough Council and the heritage authorities, consent has been granted for the development of the Grade II listed building, originally constructed in 1911 as the Southport Palace. Tribecka says its plans will result in a development that retains the building's original period features.
Commenting on the project, Tribecka Land chair, James O'Malley said: 'This deal demonstrates that important listed buildings can be successfully utilised both economically and commercially once they have ceased to serve their original purpose.' Details: +44 (0)1905 729100
