Spa opens at San Antonio health centre
A health spa designed to cater for the needs of cancer patients, survivors and carers has opened at the START Center for Cancer Care in San Antonio, Texas, US.
Inspiritas is one of few spas of its kind in the US and offers evidence-based therapies to help reduce pain and stress associated with cancer. In addition to fully-equipped treatment rooms, the facility includes an outdoor zen garden; a lounge; and changing rooms.
Located at the South Texas Medical Center, Inspiritas has been designed by START Center oncologists. Ginger Kemmy is spa director. Oncologist Dr Amy Lang said: "Inspiritas' therapists are trained specifically in cancer care but the Spa also is a haven for caregivers and families who experience their own unique stress that results when loved ones go through treatment."
A retail area and a prosthetic and wig resource area are also among the facilities at Inspiritas, as well as a movement therapy studio.
