Space Center prepares for lift off
The countdown is on for the launch of Space Center Bremen in Germany.
A soft opening period starts on 19 December, with a grand opening planned for 12 February 2004.
Billed as Europe’s largest indoor adventure park, the 22,000sq m Space Center will contain bespoke attractions and entertainment created around the theme of space travel.
Making its world premiere is Stargate SG-3000™, which will immerse visitors in the world of the Stargate SG-1™ tv series. In one of three high-tech simulators, 40 guests at a time experience what happens when a gateway opens to different dimensions.
They are caught up in a mission to get the Stargate key from the specially-created character, Satra.
The Stargate attraction has been developed by Hollywood studio, Blur, in co-operation with MGM and Matilda Productions.
Another unique attraction is Star Trek Borg Encounter®, a realisation of the Star Trek: Voyager series.
This 4D theatre experience combines onscreen action with in-theatre effects to put viewers in the middle of an attack by the Borg race.
The film is being produced by Paramount Pictures and the design of the adventure world is being created under the direction of Herman Zimmerman, the well-known production designer for Star Trek.
Other highlights include the Ariane 4 carrier rocket, Space Shot free-fall ride, Galaxie Express virtual reality rollercoaster, and a giant, 490-seat IMAX® Space Center Theatre.
Visitor stay is anticipated at around five hours and admission costs 22 euros.
