Spas offer special packages to celebrate 'supermoon'
The last of six supermoons for 2015 will rise tonight (27 October) and spas and hotels are catering to stargazing travellers by creating celestial experiences to celebrate the rare cosmic event.
The Kuö Spa at Costa Rica Marriott has launched the Candlelight Experience, which places guests outdoors amid the property’s 30-acre coffee plantation under Coffee Arabica trees. Guests can choose from treatments with nature-inspired ingredients from local coffee and volcanic ash for scrubs, and then finish with a scented hydrotherapy treatment in the outdoor Jacuzzi, with wine and strawberries.
Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos has created a Moonlight Spa, which includes two 50-minute massages accompanied by a bottle of sparkling wine and strawberries. Guests can choose between a Relaxation Massage or Deep Tissue Treatment to be experienced in the Spa Palapa on the beach with a custom setting, or in the private, open-air VIP cabin with marina views.
Acqualina Resort & Spa by ESPA features a private night-time spa deck, which begins with custom-designed treatments for two in a private couples’ suite with private rainforest shower and steamroom, plus use of the signature heat experience area. Guests may complete the treatment with an outdoor romantic candlelit dinner.
At the W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island, located eight miles off the coast of Puerto Rico and near the Bioluminescent Bay, travellers can stargaze as they kayak on the bay during nightfall and watch as light-producing micro-organisms sparkle in the dark.
Meanwhile, the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa is inviting guests to immerse in the stars overlooking Tucson’s Santa Catalina Mountains, with the help of a Cosmic Concierge who leads private stargazing sessions with advance reservations.
