The Global Wellness Summit (GWS) is gearing up to host its second annual Wellness Real Estate & Communities Symposium at JPMorgan Chase & Co. headquarters in Manhattan, New York, on 2 May 2023.

According to the GWS, wellness real estate and communities has been the fastest-growing sector in the global wellness economy since 2018.

The event will gather top business leaders in the field, including executives, investors, developers, builders, architects, designers, technologists, analysts, policymakers and media.

The agenda includes a deep dive into the latest trends and research in the “building well” market and movement. It will give attendees a full-day immersion into the future of the market and take a real-world, real-numbers look at the global development and investment space.

Confirmed speakers to date include:

Kathryn Scheckel, head of global venture lab, Hines.• Peter Epping, senior managing director and global head ESG, Hines.

Robbie Hammond, president and chief strategy officer, Therme Group US; Co-founder, Friends of the High Line.• Adam Flatto, president and CEO, The Georgetown Company.

Elizabeth Diller, partner, Diller Scofidio + Renfro. • John Alschuler, executive chair, Therme Group US.

Craig Collin, CEO, Tavistock.• Paul Scialla, founder and CEO, Delos.

Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki, principal, tst ink LLC.• Jean-François Garneau, chief development officer, INITIAL Real Estate; founder and chief possibilities officer, ALIO – Building Wellbeing.

Veronica Schreibeis Smith, founder and CEO, Vera Iconica.• Joseph G. Allen, assistant professor and director of the Healthy Buildings Program, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Todd Shaw, senior vice-president of business development, Fountain Life.• Amy McDonald, principal and CEO, Under A Tree Consulting.

Deepak Chopra, managing director, architect of the JPMorgan Chase workplace wellbeing program.• Clodagh, founder and CEO, Clodagh Design Studio.

Rachel Krupa, founder, The Goods Mart.

These specialists will explore a future that is moving well beyond the old luxury "spa real estate” to a much wider, more creative and accessible world of wellness-focused developments – from new multi-family, mixed-use, co-living and senior living concepts, to the explosion of smart technologies that make built environments far healthier and more sustainable to the surge in nature-focused communities and agrihoods.

Attendees will have access to discussions on everything from carbon accounting and future-proofing the built environment to viewing wellness real estate through the investor’s lens and exploring new ESG strategies that focus heavily on the S (for social and sustainability).

GWI researchers will also preview their Wellness Policy Toolkit: Built Environment, part of the body’s new Wellness + Policy research series, a toolkit that provides rationale and research for why wellness is a crucial lens for government policies that define our built environment.

New research from Delos and the International WELL Building Institute will also be presented to delegates.

“With such extraordinary momentum for wellness real estate and communities, and with so many new models and approaches, we’re pleased to bring back this think-tank for the second time and are committed to making it an annual event on the wellness calendar,” said Susie Ellis, GWS chair and CEO.

“We’ll bring together the leading voices shaping this fast-moving market, to learn about everything from new projects hitting the ground to the next big innovations that lie ahead to what has worked and mistakes that have been made.

“It will be a day of future-focused education, company announcements and powerful networking.”

In-person and virtual registration is now open.
