Special effects from Panatta
Winner of the innovation awards at FIBO 2004 and to be shown at LIW, the main features of Panatta's Strobo bike are colour, music and spectacular effects.
A patented design allows an LED stroboscopic lamp on the bike to project the image which appears on the machine’s flywheel. The closer the flywheel gets to the rpm value set by the cyclist or an instructor, the more stable the image gets, eventually achieving the strobo effect.
Exercise parameters such as heart rate, watts, Kcal and revolutions per minute can be set and checked on the onboard LCD display screen, with analogue indicators showing the difference between the users actual rpm rate and the target set.
A unique feature of the bike is that all of the graphics and user values shown on the screen can be projected onto a wall. In the case of group cycling sessions, each projected image can be named for a particular user, adding to the fun element of a class.
In addition to providing the graphic effects, the bike's flywheel is connected to a radio modem. This provides items of music, the frequency of which corresponds to the number of rpm required by an instructor or set by the user.
Communication between the instructor and the bikes is via a radio modem system, enabling wireless monitoring of the main parameters. This same system also connects the bikes to the PC both controlling the projector and obtaining and processing the data.
