Spinning world record
A new Guinness World Record has been set for most miles travelled on a single stationary bike in 24 hours, at a 24-hour charity Spin-a-Thon held at Grand Central Terminal in New York City.
A team of six elite riders from the New York Sports Clubs/Cadence Cycling Team cycled a total of 829.84 miles, averaging 34.58mph, which shattered the previous record of 595.17 miles at 25mph set in 2006.
Star Trac provided 100 Spinner NXT bikes for the event, held at the end of January, which raised over US$250,000 for HealthCorps, a non-profit organisation devoted to fighting teen obesity.
