Splash Point designs revealed
The final designs for Worthing's Splash Point have been revealed by Worthing Arts Council.
Construction of the £500,000 open-air leisure and events venue, designed by landscape architects Craft:Pegg, will begin in April 2010 with an opening planned for September.
The new space will be used for putting on live cultural events and art exhibitions as well as act as a public park.
Worthing Council cabinet member, John Rogers said: "This project will breathe life into an area of Worthing that was under-used and without focus."
The investment in Splash Point is a result of the Worthing Council's Regeneration Programme Team's successful bid for funding from the second wave of the government's Sea Change programme and is part of the plans to create a "buzzing, active seafront".
Worthing was one of just nine councils chosen to receive the grant, which is managed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
