Gaming group Sportech has warned that full-year profits will fall short of analysts’ expectations following a run of adverse sporting results.

In a statement, the company said its football pools business continued to struggle and that it expects profit before tax of around £5.2m in the first half and a similar performance in the second half of the year.

Revenues at Sportech’s pools division, which operate under the Littlewoods and Zetters brands, fell by 15 per cent.
