Sports Up club gets revamp
The Sports Up health and fitness club in Wiesbaden, Germany, completed a 300,000euro (£200,000) refurbishment earlier this month.
The 1,100sq m club was acquired from the liquidators of the TC (Training Center) fitness club chain by Peter Kiehl and Claus Maschke on 1 February this year and now offers a gym, aerobic and group cycling studios, a kids room, two saunas, a recreation area and a bar.
The gym has been completely re-equipped by Precor with 30 cv and 29 resistance machines – including the company’s Sygnum range of strength machines.
The club currently has 1,500 members, but Kiehl and Maschke intend to increase this to 1,800. They also intend to open further clubs depending on the success of Sports Up.
Maschke has had many years’ experience in the fitness industry, having built and developed his first club in Koblenz a decade ago, while Kiehl is a practising lawyer. They also jointly operate a fitness club advisory service in Germany, MCM GbR (Max-Club-Management).
The TC chain, which operated 31 Swiss clubs and franchises, went into liquidation in December last year.
