Spot checks for fitness centres
The New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) is to conduct random checks on registered fitness facilities and individuals.
The new auditing process is designed to confirm that clubs and exercise professionals who are registered with REPs meet the organisation’s standards.
“REPs is now well established as the quality mark the public should use when selecting a fitness centre or personal trainer,” said registration manager Nathan Burrows.
“The majority of exercise professionals and facilities give safe and effective advice, but a small number of cowboys can potentially give the industry a bad name. It’s our intention they are not associated with REPs in any way.”
