Starwood Hotels invests more than US400m refreshing its New York City portfolio
Hospitality giant Starwood together with its owner and developer partners have invested more than US$400m to revitalise the groups New York City portfolio.
Newly renovated properties include the Sheraton brand’s flagship hotel – Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, W New York – Times Square, W New York - Union Square, W New York, The Westin New York at Times Square and The Westin New York Grand Central.
Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel – completed its top-to-bottom renovation in March, which included a revamp of its 1,781 guestrooms and suites, public areas, fitness centre and meeting facilities.
The Westin New York at Times Square has reinvented 330 of its 873 guestrooms with the addition of The Westin Heavenly Bed and new Heavenly Shower. The hotel also features a newly renovated 24 hour Westin Workout fitness studio. More than 24,000 sq ft (2,230sq m) of meeting space was renovated with fresh colour patterns and bright new lighting technology, complimenting natural light throughout the foyer spaces and atrium conference rooms.
The Westin New York Grand Central debuted in October 2012 after completing extensive renovations to the historic property, formerly known as the New York Helmsley Hotel. The multi-million dollar renovation resulted in a complete redesign of the hotel’s 774 spacious guest rooms and its more than 14,000 sq ft (1,300sq m) of renovated meeting and event space.
W New York - Union Square, W New York – Times Square, and W New York located at 541 Lexington Avenue have also undergone extensive renovations.

Starwood has also enhanced its New York City portfolio with the addition of several new properties in the past three years including The Chatwal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel, and W New York – Downtown.
