Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open an Aloft branded hotel in the Bolingbrook district of Chicago, Illinois, US.

To be called Aloft Bolingbrook, the 155-room property is scheduled to open in July 2009.

Brian McGuinness, vice president of Aloft, said: “Aloft Bolingbrook will appeal to youthful-minded travellers with its urban flair and social interplay.”

The Aloft brand is the latest addition to Starwood’s s portfolio of W Hotels, and aims to attract a more younger traveller with its urban-influenced design, accessible technology, style and a social atmosphere.

Aloft is being marketed as a ‘total sensory experience’, with guest rooms featuring loft-like nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows to create a bright, airy environment.

Designed in conjunction with David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, each Aloft hotel will offer a re:mix communal lobby area and a themed bar.

There will also be a re:charge-branded fitness center at each property.
