Starwood to open two luxury hotels in China
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has announced that it is to open two hotels in China under its Luxury Collection brand.
The Astor Hotel in Tianjin is to open in May this year after a US$22m (£13.4m) renovation. The 152-bedroom hotel, which first opened in 1863, will boast 1,000sq m of meeting space, five restaurants and bars, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness centre.
The Malus in Sanya will open in autumn 2012. The 160-bedroom site will feature 300sq m of meeting space, two signature restaurant and bars, a 24-hour business centre, a health club and fitness centre, a signature spa, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and specialty shopping. It will also share a recreational centre with the newly opened Sheraton Sanya Haitang Bay Resort.
