Starwood’s international spa plans for 2008
Five large new spas are to open under various Starwood Hotels brands over the next quarter.
First to open is an urban spa within the Sheraton Athlone in Ireland. Inspired by renowned Irish designer Stephen Pearce, the spa offers a range of treatments, facilities and an indoor pool.
Next to open is the Grand Mauritian Resort, which will feature a Mandara Spa of 16,145sq ft (1,500sq m) with treatments inspired by ancient beauty traditions from Indonesia, Thailand, India and Hawaii. The facility will be managed by the Mandara Spa company.
The Bliss spa within the W hotel in Hong Kong will open on 1 August. It will feature nine treatment suites, two movie-while-you-manicure stations and other trademark Bliss features including the brownie buffet. A further Bliss spa at the W Doha in Qatar will also to open in August, with similar facilities.
Last to launch will be the Remede Spa within Starwood’s St Regis Bali property, in September. The spa will marry exotic therapies with Balinese philosophies and feature an Aqua Vitale pool, which can be used for a full-body underwater massage. Details: starwoodhotels.com
