Steigenberger to manage Leipzig hotel
German hotel operator Steigenberger Hotel Group will open a new property in Leipzig in time for the summer season of 2011.
The Steigenberger Grandhotel will boast 165 bedrooms and 12 suites and facilities include 500sq m of conferencing space and a spa and wellness area.
There will also be two restaurants – a high-end gourmet restaurant and a more informal lobby bar.
The property will be developed and owned by Handelshof, a joint venture between Leipziger Stadtbau AG and English private investment firm Patron Capital, and managed on behalf of the owners by Steigenberger.
Founded in 1930, the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Group is owned by Egyptian tourism group Travco Group, which also owns the JAZ and Iberotel chains.
Steiggenberger has recently secured management deals for eleven hotels totalling 2,400 rooms.
