Stoke college plans £4m sports complex
Stoke on Trent College has revealed plans to invest £4m in the development of a new sports complex at its Cauldron Campus, which forms part of the city's University Quarter.
The venue, which will incorporate an indoor sports hall, a fitness suite and aerobics facilities, is set to replace the institution's existing building and is scheduled to open by August 2013.
Work is expected to begin this October and the project is designed to enable Stoke on Trent College to offer a wider range of activities to students and members of the public alike.
Colin Briley, the college's executive director of finance and resources, said the scheme is to form part of a wider £6m investment programme at its Cauldron and Burslem campuses.
"The sports facilities will complement the College's Lifestyle building, which provides leading skills and training in hair and beauty, health and social care and hospitality," said Briley.
