Stott Pilates announced the launch of the Group SPX Reformer at the IDEA World Fitness Convention in Las Vegas this month.

The company's new lightweight, portable pilates reformer is claimed to be ideal for facilities wishing to introduce group pilates programming. Company president and ceo Lindsay G. Merrithew says: "As the demand for pilates continues to increase, the reformer is the most asked-about piece of equipment and we saw a need to make equipment-based pilates more accessible to gym-goers.

"We're also piloting a new Stott Pilates Group SPX certification program, so instructors can learn all the exercises performed on this piece of equipment."

The Group SPX Reformer weighs in at 100lbs and has wheels so it can be moved when not in use. It can be stacked up to six high and a special trolley is also available for storage.

Features include detachable shoulder rests, three gearbar positions, six carriage stopping positions, three headrest positions and four footbar positions. It is also said to have a higher carriage and longer rail-length than other machines in its class.

Overall dimensions are 22in high and 97in long and the machine is available in six standard or over 70 custom upholstery colours. The frame can also be made in a variety of colours and there is a chrome upgrade package on offer.

The Group SPX retails for US$2195.00 and can be purchased directly through Stott Pilates and through selected distributors. Volume pricing is available.
