Strong growth for London's Q2 visitor numbers
New figures have found that the number of visitors to London between April and June 2011 grew by 12.6 per cent to more than 4 million, compared with the second quarter of last year.
The provisional statistics from the International Passenger Survey has reported an additional 450,000 visitors to the capital for the three-month period.
It follows a 2.7 per cent overall increase in visitor numbers for 2010 and 4.6 per cent growth in Q1 this year, with the total number for the year to June 2011 up by 9 per cent.
London and Partners chief executive officer Gordon Innes said: "We had lots to celebrate in London during this quarter, notably key one off events such as the Royal Wedding and UEFA Champions League.
"Wimbledon, Chelsea Flower Show and other annual events can also be attributed to this impressive upturn. We look forward to seeing this upward trend continue for the rest of the year."
