Studio Seilern-designed concert hall to open at alpine wellness resort
A concert hall designed by architecture firm Studio Seilern is slated to debut next year in Andermatt, Switzerland.
Erstwhile a wartime bunker, the 1,412 sq m auditorium – once complete – will be able to accommodate major orchestral ensembles and seat up to 700 guests.
The hall is being built in the centre of the Andermatt resort village, a wellness destination which boasts attractions like the Chedi Andermatt, a retreat featuring a steam bath, fitness centre, 25-metre indoor pool, two saunas, and 13 spa and massage treatment rooms.
The performance venue will also be located near the SkiArena, reportedly the largest ski resort in central Switzerland.
It is Studio Seilern's second project in the region after Restaurant Gutsch, a gourmet "hamlet-style" eatery which was recently selected as one of the leisure developments of the year at the World Architecture Festival.
The new building is set to open its doors in June 2019.
