Summit attendees call for greater authenticity
The message from the New York, US, edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit was a simple one - for natural and organic beauty companies to provide greater authenticity.
Organised by Organic Monitor, the summit was created to encourage sustainability in the beauty industry and promote the debate of sustainability issues in a high-level forum. More than 150 senior beauty industry executives were in attendance at the summit, which had two interactive workshops followed by a two-day programme tackling issues such as ethical marketing, practical sustainability initiatives and investments.
The event was opened by the founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients, Horst Rechelbacher, who delivered a keynote address called Save Our Society that encouraged cosmetic companies to remove synthetics from their product formulations. Details: sustainablecosmeticssummit.com
