Supperclub to open London site
Supperclub, the avant garde nightclub chain that originated in Amsterdam, is to open a site in London.
Supperclub London will open on the site of the Subterranea nightclub near Portobello Road and will feature three separate areas: Bar Rouge, a 150-capacity bar area, Salle Neige, a dining area with a mezzanine floor, where guests famously eat on oversized beds and Bar Noir, a private party area that operates on a guestlist policy.
As with Supperclub sites globally, the London club was designed by Dutch firm Concrete, which has worked on projects such as the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart.
The original Supperclub was started by a group of artists, who took over an Amsterdam warehouse in the late 1980s in order to view each other’s art. Lacking furniture, they brought in their own mattresses, which began Supperclub’s dining concept. They opened the site to the public in 1992.
Supperclub London will open at the end of the month.
