Swallow acquires six new sites
Independent hotel operator, Swallow Hotels, has added six new sites to its Scottish portfolio.
Two of the hotels specialise in providing golf breaks – the Carnoustie Hotel near Dundee, home of the Open Championship in 2007, and the Gleddoch House Hotel near Glasgow.
Three of the properties were previously owned and operated by the Freedom of the Glen hotel group – the Ballachulish Hotel, The Isles of Glencoe Hotel and Leisure Centre and the Oban Caledonian Hotel.
The sixth property is the Huntly Arms Hotel in Aboyne. Peter Gray, chief executive, said: “We now have 67 properties in Scotland and are aiming to have 100 hotels in the region by the end of the year.”
Swallow currently operates 141 hotels across the UK with a total of 6,455 bedrooms.
In February, Swallow Hotels acquired the Risley Hall hotel in Derbyshire. Details: www.swallow-hotels.com
