Swimming pool access system launched by Core
Core PD Ltd is introducing the Poolpod at LIW following its first installation in East London as part of the Olympic and Paralympic games legacy.
The machine is designed to provide dignified and independent access for wheelchair users as well as for groups of people who do not use wheelchairs but need an alternative to a ladder.
The Poolpod incorporates a universal-use platform lift which pivots to lower into the pool. The lift is stowed on the side of the pool when not in use.
Proximity wristbands allow a user to operate the lift by placing their wristband beside the descent / ascent controls.
After the Paralympic Games the Poolpod will be used in seven pilot pools for trials across England.
