Taj Hotels enters Mauritius
India-based Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces has opened its first property on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.
The Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Mauritius, located on the Wolmar Beach in Flic en Flac, is spread across an area of 11.7 hectares (117,000sq m, 1.26 million sq ft) and has its own private beachfront.
The resort’s Jiva Spa includes six treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy cascade pool, a chill pool, a hammam, a sanarium, a laconium and a yoga and meditation pavilion as well as a beauty salon.
Consultants Raison d’Être teamed up with husband and wife partnership Samir and Bina Patel to create the spa’s treatment menu.
Treatments are based on a combination of Ayurvedic and ancient healing sciences as well as contemporary western treatments which range from deep muscular massages and relaxation aromatherapy to detoxification cleansing wraps. Two of the treatment rooms will be reserved solely for Ayurvedic treatments.
Accommodation at the resort will be offered in 65 villas, which will all include a full size private swimming pool, an al fresco dining area and an open plan bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers.
The resort also boasts a sports centre, offering guests a fully-equipped gym and the services of personal trainers.
Other amenities at the resort include a communal infinity edge swimming pool, a floodlit tennis court and an 18-hole golf course.
The Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Mauritius was designed and constructed by a team that consisted of Maurice Giraug Architects, Lim Teo and Wilkes Interior Designers and Made Wijaya Landscape Designers. Details: www.tajhotels.com
