Taking the measure of your lifestyle
Launched at Leisure Industry Week, the Pharmanex® Biophotonic Scanner enables you to check whether you have adequate antioxidant levels.
It claims to be the world’s first tool for measuring carotenoids – phytonutrients that provide antioxidant activity to cell membranes – in the skin. These can be influenced by your diet, any carotenoid antioxidant supplements you may be taking, your body fat percentage, your lifestyle and your genes.
The technology of the new system is based on an optical method known as Resonance Raman Spectroscopy and by placing your hand in front of a low-energy blue light laser, you receive your Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS).
This can range from a result in the Red Zone – indicating a low presence of skin carotenoids – through to the Blue Zone, a score of 40,000+ and showing a high presence of carotenoids.
Anyone found to be lacking in antioxidants can improve their level of protection and then maintain it by a combination of both nutritious eating and supplementing their diet with Pharmanex’s Lifepak herbal antioxidant supplements.
