In February, a group of 45 primary school pupils took part in a Gifted and Talented Multi Skills Academy Session at Freedom Leisure’s Hailsham sports facility.

The event was funded by the Youth Sports trust and was run by the South Downs School Sports Partnership.

The boys and girls, assessed and selected from primary schools throughout the Eastbourne and Hailsham area of Sussex, took part in the four-day event during the February half term holiday.

It was designed to develop and broaden participation in a range of sports for youngsters showing promise and to encourage them to think about healthy food and exercise.

Other activities which took place during the course included leadership sessions, orienteering and body combat.
