Tate Modern has joined forces with the music industry to launch a new project called Tate Tracks.

The initiative will produce a series of exclusive new music tracks inspired by works of art on display at Tate Modern.

Hip hop, garage, rock and dance artists have been invited to write and record a track inspired by a work of art of their choice featured in the newly rehung collection displays – UBS Openings: Tate Modern Collection.

Confirmed artists include The Chemical Brothers, Graham Coxon, Roll Deep, Estelle, The Long Blondes, The Landscapers, Klaxons and Union of Knives.

Visitors will be able to hear each track at a listening post next to the artwork which inspired it one month before it has been released to the general public.

The project is being rolled out from 1 September, with a new track available every month.

The Chemical Brothers will launch the initiative with a new piece of music entitled The Rock Drill, which was inspired by Jacob Epstein’s Torso in Metal from The Rock Drill (1913–14).

Will Gompertz, director of Tate Media, said: “Tate Tracks highlights just how powerful the relationship between music and art can be and we’re delighted to work with so many major musicians. Each act has responded distinctly to the artwork chosen and the results are inspirational.”

Tate Tracks will feature Roll Deep in October; Graham Coxon in November; The Long Blondes in December; The Landscapers in January; Estelle in February; Klaxons in March and Union of Knives in April. Details: www.tatetracks.org.uk
