Tees Active is developing a range of activities and events to celebrate the summer Olympic Games in London.

The sports trust will be offering free taster sessions in five targeted sports; swimming, badminton, wrestling, judo and gymnastics.

Each month from March, Tees Active will be delivering taster sessions and events in one of the above sports which will enable participants both young and old to take part in and learn more about one of the Olympic sports and possibly win a prize.

Alongside the five targeted sports, the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre will also be staging a couple of events for companies and organisations to enter including Terror on the Tees and a kayaking It's a Knockout Competition.

Terror on the Tees will involve six participants negotiating the rapids of the barrage in a raft under the guidance of a qualified raft leader. Each team will complete three timed runs to discover which team will take the Terror on the Tees title.

The kayaking It's a knockout competition will involve a safety and basic skills introduction before competitors will be let loose to negotiate obstacles and complete tasks.

Allan McDermott, Tees Active Sports Academy Manager, said: "2012 is a huge year for sport in the United Kingdom and Tees Active is developing a range of activities and events to help people celebrate this year of sport."The events at the Tees Barrage International White Water centre will be great fun and are aimed at groups with a sense of adventure and fun."
