Harm Tegelaars, chair of Fitness Industry Association (FIA), will step down from his post at the end of the year.

Tegelaars will leave the FIA to take up the role of president of the European Health and Fitness Association (EHFA).

A successor will be appointed at the FIA’s board meeting in June, allowing an extended hand-over period. Tegelaars will continue to sit on the FIA board as a non-executive member.

Andree Deane, FIA chief executive, said: “Harm’s contribution to the industry, both personally and professionally, has been immense.

he will be remembered for his determination to professionalise the industry and will be a tough act to follow.”

EHFA is the governing and standard setting body which aims to represent the interests of the European fitness industry.
