Ten years on…
As one Prime Minister resigns and leaves, via a world tour, and another tours the country “in waiting”, it’s a good time to reflect on the last decade for our industry.
Of course, we have grown rapidly; we now represent one in four of all new jobs in the UK; we are a force the government has to reckon with; we are now part of policies for health, the environment, climate change, local communities, employment, migration, and so on.
Sport, parks and leisure is a major industry and contributes massively to our society today.
So, what have been the key changes in the last 10 years?
What are the key battles we have lost, and won?
What are the lessons for the next decade, and indeed for the first year of the new Prime Minister?
