Tennent's Training Academy launches
Tennent's Lager is to open a £1m hospitality training facility tomorrow (11 November) at its Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow.
The Tennent's Training Academy will help "promote skill and excellence" in the hospitality workers, whether they work at the bar, in the kitchen or in the business management or promotional side of the industry.
An empty building on the Wellpark site has been converted and modernised to house four bespoke training rooms, including a wine and spirit room with a tasting table, a working bar and beer cellar, plus a large high-spec kitchen spec kitchen with chef’s kitchen table – all designed to replicate facilities in the real working world.
Managing director of Tennent Caledonian Breweries, Mike Lees, said: "Scotland's on-trade has had a very challenging few years, and we are committed to doing what we can to provide positive support and investment in our shared future.
"The development of this facility has come before any other non-operational onsite investment at Wellpark this year and we believe prioritising this investment that benefits the trade, is exactly the right thing to have done, especially in the current climate."
Industry recognised courses and qualifications on offer include mixology, customer service, wine and spirit training, cellar management, door security, a cook school, health and safety and business management.
