Over-35 tennis players encouraged with £20k fund
seniors Tennis GB – the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) arm for players over the age of 35 – has created a £20,000 (US$28,169, €24,741) fund to encourage more participants.
The money will be split between 40 coaches, clubs and venues who submit applications featuring the best activities and ideas. Each coach or institution taking part in the 2016 Seniors Tennis Programme will be provided £500 (US$704, €619) towards their plans.
In 2015, 30 applicants won £500 of funding each with their schemes reaching 500 participants over the age of 35.
One successful recipient of the 2015 fund said it was a “great incentive” and had “kick-started” the activity of many players over the following year.
Those keen on applying for the 2016 grant have until the 15 May 2016 to make a submission.
