The Goring becomes the first hotel to receive a Royal Warrant from the Queen
The Goring Hotel in London, UK - the only five star luxury hotel in the city still owned and run by the family who built it - has been granted a Royal Warrant for hospitality services.
Over the past five years the family has invested heavily in the refurbishment with new silks woven for the walls, bedrooms designed by Russell Sage and a redesigned dining room by Linley with bespoke chairs, walnut columns and Swarovski chandeliers.
Jeremy Goring believes it is the first Royal Warrant ever granted to a hotel and said staff would be proud to be able to display the Queen's coat of arms.
"Without doubt this is the most important recognition their work could ever receive.
"It is made all the more special for us because I believe this is the first Royal Warrant The Queen has ever granted to an hotel."
The 69-bedroom hotel was built in 1910 by Goring's great grandfather and has hosted royal guests attending the coronations of George VI and the present Queen, and in April 2011 the Duchess of Cambridge stayed in the hotel on the night prior to her wedding.
