Having announced its intention to open 50 low cost gyms in the next three years, with a ROIC of 30 per cent, The Gym Group has appointed Alison Sagar as chief commercial officer to drive its plans forward.

With more than 30 years' experience in commercial marketing and strategy, Sagar has worked for British Airways, Booz Allen Hamilton, Amex and PayPal. Most recently, she served as chief marketing officer for two digital scale-ups, Snappy and Redpin.

In her new role at The Gym Group, Sagar will be responsible for all aspects of commercial growth, from brand development, marketing and communications strategy to pricing and revenue management.

As announced last week, when the company revealed its year-end results and Next Chapter strategy, a key focus going forward will be driving membership and revenue growth across 230+ existing sites, while supporting continued expansion.

Sagar says: “I look forward to working alongside The Gym Group’s exceptional team to accelerate growth, bringing our fantastic proposition to more communities and individuals.

"I'm also excited to be joining an organisation with a commitment to widening access to health and fitness," she said.

“Alison is a highly experienced commercial and marketing leader with a perfect blend of experience,” said CEO, Will Orr.

“Alison joins The Gym Group at an exciting time as we progress our Next Chapter growth strategy, while staying true to our core mission of breaking down barriers to fitness for all.”
