The London Coliseum to reopen this month
The London Coliseum, home of the English National Opera (ENO), is due to reopen on 21 February following an extensive £41m restoration.
The four-year restoration was funded by a combination of grants and private sector contributions, with Arts Council and Heritage Lottery funds totalling £23m topped up with significant private sector donations.
All of the work was carried out with the intention of causing minimum disruption to the ENO’s performance schedule and included restoring the auditorium with Roman-themed plaster friezes and figures and installing a new, curved glass roof.
The first production in the newly restored Coliseum will now be The Rhinegold, which will launch the first new Ring in English for 30 years and will have an opening date confirmed soon. Details: www.eno.org
