Time Out 2003 Eating & Drinking awards
London's restaurants and bars have been recognised for the fourteenth year running in the Time Out Eating & Drinking awards.
Each of the 11 winners, with the exception of the Special Award, was chosen from hundreds of nominations received from Time Out readers and its associated Eating & Drinking Guide. Each establishment on the final shortlist, decided by Time Out's judges, was then visited and judged anonymously by members of the panel. Criteria for assessment included service, ambience and quality of food and drink as well as value for money.
Awards included Best New Restaurant, Racine in SW3 and Best Gastropub as The House, N1.
The Special Award went to Jamie Oliver for his Cheeky Chops charity work and Fifteen restaurant projects as well as his promotion of good food.
Time Out's food and drink editor, Guy Dimond, said: 'How could we give it to anyone else? He's done more to promote good food and put it within the reach of ordinary young people than just about any other TV chef.' Details: www.timeout.com
