Tivoli flies high with new ride
This spring a new interactive ride will open at the Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The new attraction is a simulated aircraft ride reaching speeds of 100 km/h, with 360-degree turns.
Two planes seating two pilots and two passengers will be mounted on two large wings that can rotate 360 degrees, with the planes also being able to rotate 360 degrees in all directions.
The pilots must start the plane and steer it during the two-minute ride using a panel of flight controls, before landing. A special turbo (afterburn) button can increase the speed up to 100 km/h, with the wings rotating at 15 rotations per minute.
Italian amusement ride company Technical Park developed the attraction, which was designed on an Oriental theme of gold leaf and onion-shaped cupolas.
“We are looking forward to the 2009 season with its many new initiatives. One of them is our new ride that will be a truly unique experience — and so wild that it is only for the most courageous visitors,” said managing director Lars Liebst.
The world’s tallest carousel — the 80m high Himmelskibet — opened in Tivoli in 2006.
