Tom Maynard Trust established to support disadvantaged cricketers
A new trust has been established in memory of late Surrey cricketer Tom Maynard in order to help support aspiring, disadvantaged cricketers, as well as players from other sports.
The Tom Maynard Trust will offer support across a number of different aspects of players' career development - such as bursaries and help with training and education.
Individuals connected to Surrey County Cricket Club, along with Tom Maynard's previous club Glamorgan, have backed the establishment of the new trust.
One of the trustees will be a nominee of the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), an association expected to work closely with the Tom Maynard Trust going forward.
Surrey chair Richard Thompson said: "It is fitting that the objectives should focus on helping aspiring young cricketers and I am sure that an enormous number of people will benefit in years to come."
