Toronto’s Oasis Wellness Centre and Spa closes
The Oasis Wellness Centre and Spa in Toronto, Canada, has closed.
The 23,000sq ft (2,137sq m) spa launched in April 2007. It was founded by Peter Smed, whose company, the Oasis Group, also owns the Oasis Wellness Centre and Spa in Calgary.
According to Smed, the Toronto spa closed for financial reasons: “Sales were not where they should have been to keep the business viable. We worked right to the eleventh hour to negotiate a deal, but were unsuccessful.”
He added: “We are saddened by the closure of Oasis Toronto. We were proud of what we accomplished and regret that employees and customers were affected by the closure.”
The Calgary-based Oasis Wellness Centre, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will continue to operate.
