West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) has given local residents in Towcester the opportunity to comment on plans for an overhaul of the town's Moat Lane area.

An outline planning application for the scheme includes a number of leisure facilities, such as a hotel, a restaurant, cafés and bars, as well as additional shops, new offices and a community library and registry. Plans were put on display at two public events on 23 and 24 July, while the corporation is also inviting feedback on the proposals until 6 August as part of the consultation.

South Northamptonshire Council, Northamptonshire County Council and WNDC are working together on the scheme, which have already received funding from Northamptonshire Enterprise. The East Midlands Regional Development Agency and the Homes and Communities Agency are also backing the development plans.
