Turkish restauranter to make UK debut
Metin Fadillioglu, the 'Mark Birley' of Istanbul whose stylish clubs and restaurants in Istanbul include 29 Ulus and Key: Fahn, makes his English debut this autumn with the launch of a new restaurant in central London.
Comprising 209sq m on the ground floor and 222sq m on the basement, the flagship site will be designed by Metin's wife, Zeynep - one of Andrew Martin's top 30 designers in the world. At 29 Ulus Zeynep created a lavish restaurant setting overlooking the two Bosporus bridges in Istanbul and she has also decorated a London mansion, home of her cousin the Turkish-born world renowned fashion designer Rifat Ozbek.
The pair's latest venture, the name of which is currently being registered, is expected to open in Lower Regent Street in September or October and will offer global cuisine. If successful, eh concept will be rolled out to Europe. The site will be managed by Fabrizio, who previously ran the highly successful George Restaurant in South Audley Street.
