Turner Contemporary and Aspex join forces for virtual Dickens project
Turner Contemporary in Margate and Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth have joined forces to produce Our Mutual Friends – an online project based on Charles Dickens's allegorical novel of the same name.
The project presents four newly commissioned online artworks and aims to connect the contemporary phenomenon of social media with the legacy of Dickens.
Our Mutual Friends mobilises Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites and apps to consider Dickens's satire on society, celebrity and the superficiality of friendships in the light of our contemporary cultural moment.
