Two 'appropriate' sites for Yeovil Sports Zone
Brimsmore and Bunford have been identified as the two 'most appropriate' locations for the proposed Yeovil Sports Zone development.
Both sites have been put forward in a South Somerset District Council (SSDC) report, which follows a public consultation organised by Alliance Planning this summer. Alliance Planning, along with Royal Haskoning and Greenslade Taylor Hunt, has also undertaken a search and assessment process to identify potential sites.
Yeovil Recreation Centre was previously favoured as the location for the sports complex, but the decision was overturned by councillors in February 2009. The SSDC report will be considered by councillors before a decision is made as to how the scheme will progress.
Facilities at the Yeovil Sport Zone could include a 50m swimming pool; a gym; indoor sports halls and a climbing centre.
