Two new spas join Quintas de Madeira
Two luxury properties with new spas have joined the Quintas de Madeira collection of luxury hotels on the island of Madeira.
Opened in June 2009, the 2m euro (£1.71m, US$2.8m) spa at Quinta Casa Velha do Palheiro covers 6,458sq ft (600sq m) and has four treatment rooms.
Designed by Bruno Martins of msb architects in Madeira, spa consultants on the project included the Portuguese firm ASPA.
Treatments use Pevonia Botanica, with non-surgical, anti-ageing therapies from Caci. The hotel is a country house-style property, is situated on a golf course and is part of the Relais and Chateaux group.
The other spa at Quintinha de Sao Joao is built within the grounds of one of Funchal's historic Quintas.
Launched in April 2009, at a cost of 250,000 euro (£214,170, US$352,030), the 2,690sq ft (250sq m) spa has three treatment rooms and was designed by Portuguese architect Pedro Barreto. Supplied by Kamera, Mathis and Bioline, treatments include face and body therapies as well as a number of signature offerings. Details: quintas-madeira.com
