UK Sport aims for equality
UK Sport has achieved the Foundation Level of the Equality Standard and is now helping other sport governing bodies do the same.
To meet this standard, UK Sport had to demonstrate a commitment to equality; show that its policy for equality had been communicated and understood by staff and an awareness of its current position in terms of equality.
Equality Policy Officer, Charlie Edward, says this is a milestone: “We’ve worked hard to get to this stage and the aim now is to achieve progressively higher levels of the standard over the coming years.”
Other organisations going for the standard include UK Athletics, British Triathlon, British Canoe Union and British Swimming.
