The planned merger of UK Sport and Sport England is "likely to be scrapped' according to the Guardian.
Following on from a previous, exclusive report in the newspaper in January, the Guardian claims that the plans have now been cancelled in the wake of Team GB's Olympic success in the summer.
Both UK Sport and Sport England declined to comment. When contacted by Sports Management magazine, a spokesperson for the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) said a statement would be made at a later date.
UK Sport is the country's elite sport funding body while Sport England distributes public and lottery money to NGBs as well as invests in grass roots sports infrastructure.
