UK tourism experts address Chinese heritage industry
UK tourism and heritage experts took part in the Sino-UK Cultural Heritage Seminar at the China International Travel Market in Kunming on 25 November.
Dominic Tweddle of Continuum group and Raymond Hole of Furneaux were part of the British delegation, organised by UK Trade & Investment, which advised Chinese officials and museum managers on how to promote and sustain their historical and cultural sites.
The other UK speakers were Chris White of MET Studio Design, Morna Hinton of the V&A Museum and Sandra Matthews-Marsh of Kent Tourism Alliance.
While in China the delegation is also undertaking a trade mission to Beijing and Shanghai.
Trade minister Ian Pearson said: "I'm delighted that British experts are helping China to develop its tourism and cultural expertise.
"China has an unequalled depth and variety of cultural heritage sites and artefacts to draw upon and has committed to raise both national revenues and living standards through tourism development.
"British companies are able to offer a remarkable array of experience and expertise in this sector."
The event also saw 14 UK tourism organisations exhibiting, organised by UKinbound.
